Happy Monday Loves!
Reality just set in that this is my last week of summer vacation before the madness starts up again! Mixed feelings! (Teacher life with summers off has me spoiled!)
I’ve gotten into a huge decorate/clean my whole house mood so I’ll be spending the next couple days doing just that. I didn’t know how much fun it was picking out all kinds of decor! I also didn’t know how many plants, shelves, and lights there were to choose from. So many decisions, it’s not easy!
Have any plans for the upcoming week?
Besides decorating my house, this Friday I will be taking my second Smart Barre class!
Have ya’ll heard of Smart Barre yet?
I took my first class last Friday and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been through so many different types of work outs, including weights, dance, swimming, yoga, etc., but this was so unique and I loved it. Not to mention, a lot more challenging than it leads on!
If I told you I didn’t use a weight over 2 pounds, what would you think? Because I literally didn’t and holy cow batman, I was dying!
All the exercises individually are very simple. It is the repetition and how the workout is planned which makes your body work hard. If you’re familiar with weight lifting, some of the exercises we did were shoulder press, tricep kick backs, lounges, squats, stylized crunches, and a lot more!
Smart Barre has a dance/ballet spin to it, but if you have never danced or taken a ballet class in your life, you’ll be fine! You don’t need to know or have any experience to pick up on the placement and positions they use. The instructor was constantly moving around the room to help or assist anyone that needed a little extra guidance or just needed a quick correction of form.
Besides the class being FUN, which is so important for your workouts, (you should enjoy what you’re doing) you have your own personal space during class. Unlike the gym, you aren’t waiting for a machine to open or praying no one is hogging your choice of weights. No one is awkwardly staring at you and you’re not in your head wondering if other people are staring at you. (I know that was something that bothered me when I started my gym membership.)
When you walk into class, you’ll pick a mat and that space is yours. Everyone is so into their own bodies and concentrating on what they are doing, that you’re free to center in on your own body without worry of anything else.
So, what do you need to bring to class?
That is it!
I would recommend wearing your normal workout clothes, whatever makes you feel comfortable but also movable. Socks are important, as it is what you’ll take class in. If you forget, Smart Barre has some super cute and comfy ones there for you to purchase. I had socks on already but I still ended up buying some because of how adorable they were! =) (shopping problems!)

Recommend times ten that you try this out! I felt amazing and energized walking out of class. Not to mention, I woke up the next day and my biceps and triceps were sore!!! Of course, a good, I worked out hard, sore! That feeling of accomplishment 😉
