Well 2017 is here and I truly can’t believe how fast time goes by. I usually make resolutions but hardly ever make it to the end of the year perfectly. This year I’m looking at my “resolutions” more as goals, or better yet, having a plan going into the year to make it positive.
Say “thank you” more
My life can be pretty fast paced sometimes so when someone let outs a helpful hand, I grab it. I am so appreciative of every single good deed someone has made to make my life a little easier. At the end of this past year I realized I always think of how much I appreciate it, but I wasn’t doing a very good job showing it. I underestimated the power of saying “thank you.” In continuation of what I have already started, I will work on ways to say thank you and show how special the people are in my life.
Spend money on travel and not things
Who doesn’t want the more recent iPhone, a new outfit or two, the most current this or up to date that, but how is that really impacting your life? Yes it feels good to show it off for the first time. We all want to acquire the best things in life. But, are the best things in life actual things? No. I made a resolution a couple of years ago to start traveling more. I did really great that year but then let this priority slip down on the list. This year it’s part of my year plan. I want to save money for experiences and adventures and let the material things wait.
Self care and self love
I am so happy to say that I am 100 percent content with where I am professionally now. Not to say I don’t want to keep improving in my craft, but I am enjoying where I am. Teaching the most amazing group of girls my passion of dance and blogging on the side, it’s a fun life to live. The only down side, is when I really love something, I devote all my time and energy into it. The past 6 months or so, I let my self-care down a little. Instead of going to the gym after work, I come home to sit in front of a computer for hours. Not necessary a bad thing since blogging involves a computer and having to sit for hours. But I am used to a much more active day and need that outlet back. The plan is to manage my time better and allow the gym to be a priority. Got to get those muscles back for the summer!
Those are the main “resolutions” or goals for my year plan. I feel like when you make a list of too many things it becomes unattainable. Think of the 3-5 things you really want to improve, enhance, or change this year and make a plan.
2017 will be the year of optimism and positivity. I can’t wait for all the experiences and memories!
