Today is day 2 of “The Power of Positivity” five days series and I am so excited to be talking to you today about compassion. I already introduced “The Power of Positivity: Humility,” which is essential for executing compassion.
Some would define compassion as “sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.” I think it goes further than this.
We all have tough days when we just need someone to cut us some slack. Help each other out and let the small offenses go. Realize we are all going to make mistakes, say the wrong thing, or do something that is out of character. First impressions mean something, but they aren’t meant to be permanent.
Compassion doesn’t happen just in moments of suffering. You can shine a light in any room through any person at any given time.
Compassion can be found during a disagreement. Instead of having the prime focus of being right, have the humility and compassion to try to understand. Think outside of your view point and learn someone else’s perspective or opinion. Empathize with one another.
Easy ways to show compassion could be holding the door for the person coming behind you, complimenting someone, or letting someone know how much they have influenced your life. I wrote a blog post about How to Spread Positivity Around, which will give you multiple ways to show compassion to your closest friend or a complete stranger.
Once you have the first step down, humility, you will learn just how easy compassion can really be. Be the helping hand whenever possible. Look for different solutions to problems. Remember, you can shine your light in any room. Be the light.
Check back tomorrow for day 3 “The Power of Positivity: Gentleness.”
